Bison Stew

Cooking Time: 1 hour


  • 1lb bison stew meat, or sirloin tip steak, or roast cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/4 c. coconut oil, butter or bison tallow
  • 3-4 cups cubed vegetables (potatoes, onions, carrots, sweet potato, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, etc.)
  • 2-4 cups bison bone broth
  • Fresh herbs as desired
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. cold water


Preheat oil or butter in heavy 6 quart kettle. Brown bison cubes on all sides, about 10 minutes. Add vegetables and cook until tender crisp. Add broth and seasonings. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until meat and vegeta
